The Future of Logistics Lies in the Nighttime – First Virtual Event Together with the BVL Regional Group Hamburg

What is the difference between nighttime express and classical express shipping? What happens between the early evening hours and dawn in the nox depot in Hamburg? And why do those in charge at the European market leader for pre-workday deliveries expect increasing demand in the future? These questions and many others were answered on 23 July during the online event “The Future of Logistics Lies in the Nighttime,” jointly held by the BVL Regional Group Hamburg and nox Nighttime Express.

The new format made it possible for guests from all over Germany as well as the Hamburg region to take part. Despite a few technical difficulties at the start, which were managed with Hanseatic coolness and humour, a video made it possible for participants to take a look behind the scenes at the nox site in Glinde, just outside Hamburg. They got an impression of the nox depot and the processes going on there. Afterwards, Jörg Arnskötter, General Manager Special Customer & Market Representative, explained the benefits of pre-workday deliveries for customers and for city traffic. The streets are empty at night; deliveries can avoid traffic jams and take the shortest routes. In view of increasing urban traffic and growing e-commerce, nightime express can sustainably reduce the load on road traffic. At the same time, the customers profit from greater added value, because service technicians and other recipients of nighttime express shipments can start at full speed when the workday begins, without having to wait for parts to arrive.

The participants in the roughly hour-long event took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions. For example, about how the couriers find the technicians’ vehicles where they deposit the goods or about how keys are managed.

Further joint events with the BVL regional groups are planned.
